This was truly an incredible journey for me!
Before I started this journey, I was anticipating some incredible things. I had already crossed the hurdle of all the impossibilities, so the sky was the limit for me. I started my weight loss journey in November 2006 weighing in a whopping 256 pounds. In April 2007, I weighed in at 246 pounds, which was the true beginning of my fitness journey with my fitness trainer.
When I started a eight weeks camp with my trainer in September, I weighed in at 207 pounds. By the end of the camp, I was down to 187.6 pounds. That’s a 19.6 total weight loss in eight weeks. My total weight loss at the end of this eight weeks camp was 58.4 pounds. This felt absolutely amazing!
When I started working out with my trainer, it was the most insane experience that I will remember for a lifetime. I played basketball in high school and in my day, I would consider myself very athletic. The challenge was that I hadn’t done any strenuous exercising since I was pregnant with my first son. I was amazed at the level of commitment that has to be given between you and your trainer. It’s like a love/hate relationship. You love them because they care enough about you to push you towards your goals, but it’s hard to be excited about the regiments and the burning sensations that occur while you are going through the process of getting to your goals.
WORKOUT
ACTIVE LIFESTYLE
It was a hard first week. All the training was outside so you have to deal with the humidity in Georgia and yep even though we worked out at 8:00PM and 9:00PM, it’s still hot in Georgia. Working out outside seems harder and more taxing on the body, but I was fully up for the challenge. I was totally embracing this new experience. Whatever the heck boot camp was, I wanted to be fully prepared.
The first week we worked out felt insane. Our running course grew longer and longer. It was amazing during one session when the trainer asked us to bunny hop down the field. The bleachers seem so far away. Not to mention how much I hate bunny hopping anyway. Not only was this gruesome and tiring, but the trainer would show up half way down your hopping journey and say something like, “you have to go all the way without stopping! If you stop, you owe me a lap!” It felt like torture. That is when it truly has to be mind over matter because the body wants to stop and the mind tells you that you don’t want to run extra laps so you have to find some energy from within to push to the finish line.
The eight weeks went by very fast. Each week I anticipated what the new challenge would be and yep, my trainer always managed to come up with some new and exciting regiments each week. Each week grew harder and harder as the body began to adjust and get stronger.
I was extremely pleased with the results that I received at the end of this eight weeks camp. I could tell that my body was so much stronger. My endurance was improved and my weight was reduced by almost another 20 pounds. There were many exercises that my body wasn’t strong enough to do before the camp, but I was able to complete many of them successfully by the end of this eight week camp. This was definitely an incredible eight week journey!
